Jeff Hanneman, guitarist and founding member of thrash metal band Slayer, has
died at the age of 49. It was released a statement on the band´s Facebook page
announcing that their fellow band member had passed away at 11AM, May 2, at his
own home in Southern California.
“Slayer is devastated to inform that their bandmate
and brother, Jeff Hanneman, passed away at about 11AM this morning near his
Southern California home. Hanneman was in an area hospital when he suffered
liver failure. He is survived by his wife Kathy, his sister Kathy and his
brothers Michael and Larry, and will be sorely missed.

In early 2011, Hanneman contracted necrotizing
fasciitis, a flesch-eating disease that was believed to have been contracted
from a spider bite while in a friend´s hot tub. Hanneman ended up passing away
of liver failure in a local Los Angeles hospital near his home in Southern
California.
